We adopted our dachshund from a couple who were divorcing. The woman had too many dogs to care for on her own, and the man wasn't interested in taking any of them. I was afraid the pup would miss her previous owners, but she became a member of our family as soon as I brought her home. It's worth a try, and I hope it works out for you. By the way, thank you so much for the nice comment you left over at my place. Your compliment made me feel so good.

I think you should try having your doggie visitor for the week. Also good luck with the mammogram. I do hate those myself, since "my girls" don't like to be super squished!!! Take care. =^..^=

Good vibes coming into my brain re: the mammogram. No worries! If you do decide to take the little dogster, just remember that they are just little people with hair all over who need to go outside to use the bathroom just like we all did back in the day. Other than that, it's just like a new baby in the house and you have had lots of those so you should be an old hand! My twins are doing well (so they like to hang from the upper branches of the Christmas tree. No biggie! A squirt of water strategically aimed gets them earthbound pretty quick and they are beginning to retain this message for longer than their 8 second attention span!).

Oh try it! When we first bought the house 2 1/2 years ago, we really wanted to get another Cocker, so I started checking for local breeders and checking the papers. One day one of our regular customer cames into the bank and while she was going through her purse for stuff, she pulled out a picture of a black cocker and said, "you don't know of any one that would want her, do you> Doug doesn't like her for some reason and I'd just as soon she have a home where she is loved by everyone." Took her picture home to show Hubby and he picked her up the next night! She was SO sweet and cuddly and for the first few days she seemed rather subdued and I'm sure she missed Sheila. But after a few short days, she was just fine! (She was 1 year old) I say try it! And don't be discouraged the first 3 or 4 days. By the end of a week you should know if you're 'meant for each other'. I'm excited for you! I know you've been wanting a dog for a long time. What ever happened to your neighbor that was so mean to her dog? That was a daschsound also, wasn't it?
