Why do they want to take out some of your bone? I am not understanding this!

Okay, I did some Googling and now I understand. But JEEBUS! It sure as hell sounds wicked nasty!

Holy mother of god! I've never heard of such a thing! I googled too and still don't understand what the heck the point is to this! GAH! I've never needed any serious dental procedures so I'm limited in my knowledge anyhow, but this whole thing sounds painful, ugly, expensive and back-assward. Second opinion time! ~LA

That does sound ouchy, but you know if you don't take care of your teeth, down the road, what teeth will you have? Just a passing thought. There are good drugs for pain!! =^..^=

I've had a lot of Dental work done over the years....I mean A LOT! I have had to have that surgery on all the teeth in my mouth, though it wasn't given a name like that "back in the day"....And let me say, I never had any bone taken out...it was all always just the gum. If I were you I would ask your desntist about the particulars in your case and IF he or she thinks bone will have to be removed.....AND, you might want to get a second and even a third opinion---unless you absolutely trust your Dentist. But ask whomever you go to, to tell you exactly what they will be doing and what YOU should expect after the surgery....Waaay back, they used to put packing all around the area that was treated, to help it heal. But there have been so very many incredible improvements in Denistry....they may have much better ways of treating the area today...And much good luck, my dear.
