<<<< >>> Since you asked: For me, it was after my daughter died. Couple with a back injury that really limited my movement a year later and there you have it. How someone becomes a big ol fatty. (ok not 300 lbs but very close) I wouldn't recommend it. The dead daughter or the bad back thing ; )
Now as to rather it can happen to you or not, I have no idea. I never in a million years dreamed it would happen to me.

First, I'm glad you and your husband had such a good time. It sounds like you had a lot of fun and learned a lot, too.
I cringed when I read your description of the obese women. And then I paused and closed the window and thought about it and cringed some more.
While I'm not going to state how much I weigh here, the multiple chins? Check. Bulbous breasts? Check. Wide ass? Check. Swollen ankles? Check. Luckily, I don't need a motorized cart to carry me around every day.
If I had a good answer for why I'm fat, I'd try to fix myself. But I've fixed myself before...multiple times, actually, but I keep getting broken again.
I don't want you to think I took offense to what you wrote, because I didn't. More than anything, it just makes me more aware of how others see me, and then I cringe some more.
I never thought I would weigh this much, either. I would give anything in the world to go back to the weight I was in high school and college, when I felt huge, but now know I wasn't.
Sorry this is so long...sometimes I wear my emotions all over my sleeve.

I am overweight too... or maybe I'm just undertall. Heh. But I don't need a motorized chair! Yes, some of the women might have a medical condition that makes them that obese, but some just overeat and don't care. I have noticed a lot more of the motorized carts, and think its a shame to get to the point of needing one. I am far from that! And I only have one chin, I think! Hee!

I was at a flea market yesterday in Shipshewana, Indiana, and the Amiga Buddies were every where. In fact, I asked my shopping buddy if they were having a meeting of the Amigas there were so many.
Far from skinny myself, and I certainly realize that there's more to people than what you can see on the outside, but am I alone in thinking that many obese have health problems as a direct result of their overeating habits?
Case in point, my place of work has had a major construction project that's just on the finishing touches after nearly a year-and-a-half. As a result of the construction project, employees were no longer allowed to park in front of the building, but in a parking lot roughly about 1/4 mile from the building. Suddenly, people I'd worked with for years who had never had a handicap other than their weight were showing up to work with handicap parking cards. Let's just say I found it laughable.
