Sawing and Swimming
Rehab Center. "Rehab" means to leave an 82 year old man alone in his room all day and just bring him his meals. Don't help him with the meals, just plop the food on the tray and walk out. If my mom hadn't sat by his bedside all day, he wouldn't have been able to eat.
He fell after he purposely popped the lense out of his eye glasses and used it in a sawing motion to loosen his bonds (they tied him to the bed so that he wouldn't "wander"). My sister has christened him MacGyver. He also ripped out his catheter...again. OUCH!!
They have no idea how long he laid on the floor of his room before they discovered him - and they really had no problem saying that to my Mom.
Ladies and gentlemen, start saving the Xanax and muscle relaxers now, 'cause I'm telling you that those Jamaican aides in the nursing homes don't give two damns for our parents...and don't understand a word our parents are saying to them. When I went to visist my Dad, it took me 15 minutes to find him because they didn't have his name on the door. I don't know who Mr. Martin was (that's the name that was on my Dad's door), or what happened to him, but he sure as hell wasn't in my Dad's room.
Happier news? Hub and I got a free upgrade when we went away to the Poconos last week. We ended up staying in a room with a pool in it. That was great and we spent alot of time in the pool and alot of time on the lake just floating around talking.,br.
On our way home, we stopped at the new Mt. Airy Casino and hub won $191.00. I lost $50.00.
