Cash for Clunkers
New Car -----Hubby---Old Car
I�m sure you�ve all heard about the Cash for Clunkers program. The Government passed legislation that will pay auto dealers between $3,500 to $4,500 when you trade-in a vehicle and purchase a new one that meets or exceeds higher MPG standards.
Well we took advantage of this program and we are THRILLED!!
My daughter was driving a 1997 Grand Cherokee. We bought it used (and abused) about 4 years ago for $2500. It served her well driving back and forth to work and school and the 4 wheel drive was a godsend in the winter.
The car had over 200,000 miles on it and it has really deteriorated in the last year. It broke down several times and it bucked, groaned, hissed and smoked it�s way around town. My daughter is starting her college internship in August and I was really beginning to wonder how the hell the car was going to hold up driving into the city every day for 4 months.
As soon as we heard about the Cash for Clunkers program we jumped on it. The car was eligible for a $4500.00 voucher. $4500.00 for a car we only paid $2500.00 for!
My daughter is now the proud owner of a 2009 Kia Spectra.
Yes, we now have a monthly car payment we didn�t have before, (under $150.00 a month) but we got a great deal and I now have peace of mind knowing that she�s not going to break down.
