check the bulletin boards at the local grocery store, someone always has a kitten to give away!

Gracious! For a while people were all but chucking cats at us! The trick for me is keeping it down to two. Beanie's suggestion is good. I also suggest you call a local riding stable, barn cats are usually overabundant and the horse folk are glad enough to find a warm willing home for their amok kitten population. That rescue woman sounded like a control freak to me. Betcha when she got to choose sides for schoolyard games she tortured her schoolmates with, "Weeeeel, maybe I'll pick you, if you can convince me why AND give me your lunch money and that pink sparkly pencil of yours." What a butthead. ~LA

My son got the best cat in front of Safeway in a cardboard boxx. There's always people who need to find good homes for an accidental litter. Good luck on your cat quest. The right kitten is out there and just waiting to find you. My daughter adopted her 2 cats from the SPCA, the Forgotten Feline program that places feral cats.

She sounds a lot like the rescue people around here--a little over the top. You probably would be better off with a free to good home kitten in the paper or off a bulletin board, but the rescue people do relent, I've found, if you persist (we've got three rescue animals in our home now and have, in the past, had as many as six--when we were in the country). Either way, happy kitten!

What a wack-o. You should try the local classifieds. That chick was crazy.

There's a house a couple of blocks from me that has a sign out for free kittens. I second the suggestion to check the classifieds section of your local paper.

Sounds like the Ellen Degeneris thing all over again. I have never heard of such a stupid thing. Find another source. JEEBUS! She needs meds!
